Match Insights: Set-pieces & On-ball Actions

Clickable Match Insights for analyzing Set-Pieces and On-Ball Actions

The Set-pieces & On-ball Actions section analyzes the selected team's set-piece situations and on-ball actions. It includes dedicated analyses for attacking and defending set-pieces, player actions, passing, and dribbles.

Using the analysis

Both sections follow the same analysis workflow. Selecting a player, zone, or event automatically updates the related visualizations and synchronizes the table view. Every event can be opened directly in the video player from either the visualization or the table. Clips can also be added directly to a playlist.

Navigating the section

Two sections are available from the left navigation menu:

  • Set-pieces

  • On-ball Actions

Select a section to display the corresponding analysis.

Set-pieces

The Set-pieces section analyzes attacking and defending corner kicks, throw-ins, and free kicks.

Two tabs are available at the top of the screen:

  • Attacking Set-pieces

  • Defending Set-pieces

Select a tab to display the corresponding attacking or defending set-pieces.

Selecting a set-piece on the pitch or a row in the table opens the corresponding video clip.

For both the attacking and defending set-pieces three pitch visualizations display the corner kicks, throw-ins, and free kicks separately for the selected tab.

On-ball Actions

The On-ball Actions section analyzes the selected team's on-ball actions throughout the match.

Three tabs are available at the top of the screen:

  • Player Actions

  • Passing

  • Dribbles

Select a tab to switch between views.

Player Actions

  1. The Left Panel
Displays the average position of each player, based on their on-ball actions. Use Full Match, 1st Half, and 2nd Half to switch between match periods. Each dot represents a player.

  2. Middle Panel

Selecting a player updates the middle panel with their on-ball actions, populates the table with the corresponding actions, and displays their passing network in the right panel.

  3. The Right Panel

The passing network visualizes the selected player's passing connections. Thicker lines indicate a higher number of completed passes between players.

Passing

Passing analyzes all passes played by the selected team during the match.

  1. The Left Panel

Shows where passes originated across the pitch. The numbers indicate how many passes started in each zone. Select a zone to display the related passes.

  2. The Middle Panel
Displays the pass directions originating from the selected zone.

  3. The Right Panel

Visualizes passing connections between the selected zone and other pitch zones.

  • Orange zone: The selected zone.

  • Blue zones: Zones that exchange passes with the selected zone. A darker blue means more passes are exchanged.

  • Orange square: The number of passes from the selected (orange) zone to that blue zone.

  • Blue square: The number of passes from that blue zone to the selected (orange) zone.

Dribbles

Dribbles analyzes all dribbles performed by the selected team during the match. Follow the same steps as described in Passing, as the visualizations and interactions work the same way.

Adding events to a playlist

Individual events or sequences can be selected directly from the table using the checkboxes. Multiple rows can be selected at once for bulk actions. Or add a clip to a playlist straight from the clip pop-up.

Once selected, the clips can be added to an existing playlist or folder. For a full overview of how to create and manage playlists, refer to Playlists & Folders.
