The Defense → Attack section analyzes how the selected team transitions into attack after regaining possession during open play. It covers transitions starting in the team's own half, counter-pressing recoveries, and the first pass played after a ball win.
Using the analysis
Each tab follows the same analysis workflow. Selecting a zone or event automatically updates the related visualizations and synchronizes the table view. Every event and sequence can be opened directly in the video player from either the visualization or the table. Clips can also be added directly to a playlist.
Navigating the section
Three tabs are available at the top of the screen:
Own Half Transitions
Counter-Pressing
Recovery Passes
Select a tab to switch between views.
Own Half Transitions
Own Half Transitions analyzes sequences that start when the selected team regains possession during open play in its own half. It helps identify where recoveries occur, how possession develops through the pitch, and how transitions end.
1. Recovery locations
The left visualization displays where the selected team regained possession during open play in its own half. Each zone displays colored badges indicating the outcome of the sequence:
Green: Positive
Yellow: Neutral
Red: Negative
These are assessed from the perspective of the selected team. Select a zone or badge to display the corresponding sequences.
2. Sequence zones
The middle visualization displays every zone the selected sequence(s) passed through. Only zones containing an event, such as a pass or dribble, are included.
3. Sequence flow
The right visualization shows the full sequences of the selected zone or badge. Clicking on a sequence opens the pop-up video.
For a complete explanation, see Sequence Start, Result & Outcome.
Counter-Pressing
Counter-Pressing shows moments where the selected team immediately wins the ball back in open play after losing possession. It uses the same layout and interactions as Own Half Transitions, but focuses exclusively on counter-pressing recoveries in the opponent's half.
Follow the same steps as described in Own Half Transitions, as the visualizations and interactions work the same way.
Recovery Passes
Recovery Passes focuses on the first passes played by the selected team after regaining possession during open play. This tab follows a different visual model from the two tabs above.
1. Pass locations
The left visualization displays pitch zones showing the total number of recovery passes per zone. Select a zone to display the corresponding passes.
2. Passes from zone
The middle visualization displays the pass directions originating from the selected zone.
3. Pass destinations
The right visualization shows:
Orange zone: The selected zone.
Blue zones: Zones that exchange recovery passes with the selected zone. A darker blue means more recovery passes are exchanged.
Orange square (inside a blue zone): The number of recovery passes from the selected (orange) zone to that blue zone.
Blue square (inside a blue zone): The number of recovery passes from that blue zone to the selected (orange) zone.
Adding events to a playlist
Individual events or sequences can be selected directly from the table using the checkboxes. Multiple rows can be selected at once for bulk actions. Or add a clip to a playlist straight from the clip pop-up.
Once selected, the clips can be added to an existing playlist or folder. For a full overview of how to create and manage playlists, refer to Playlists & Folders.
