Match Insights: Attack → Defense

The Attack → Defense section analyzes how the opponent behaves directly after winning the ball against the selected team. It covers where recoveries occur, how the opponent applies counter-pressure, and what passing sequences follow a recovery.

Using the analysis

Each tab follows the same analysis workflow. Selecting a zone or event automatically updates the related visualizations and synchronizes the table view. Every event and sequence can be opened directly in the video player from either the visualization or the table. Clips can also be added directly to a playlist.

Navigating the section

Three tabs are available at the top of the screen:

  • Opponent Recoveries

  • Opponent Counter-pressing

  • Opponent Recovery Passes

Select a tab to switch between views.

Opponent Recoveries

Opponent Recoveries shows all moments where the opponent won the ball back against the selected team, including where the recovery took place and how the subsequent sequence developed.

1. Recovery locations

The left visualization displays where the selected team regained possession during open play in the opponent's half. Each zone displays colored badges indicating the outcome of the sequence:

  1. Green: Positive

  2. Yellow: Neutral

  3. Red: Negative

These are assessed from the perspective of the selected team. Select a zone or badge to display the related sequences.

2. Sequence zones

The middle visualization displays every zone the selected sequence(s) passed through. Only zones containing an event, such as a pass or dribble, are included.

3. Sequence flow

The right visualization shows the full sequences of the selected zone or badge. Clicking on a sequence opens the pop-up video.

Opponent Counter-pressing

Opponent Counter-pressing shows moments where the opponent immediately pressed to win the ball back after losing possession. It uses the same layout and interactions as Opponent Recoveries, but focuses exclusively on counter-pressing recoveries in the selected team's own half. Select a zone or badge to display the related sequences and open the corresponding video clips from the right visualization or the table.

Opponent Recovery Passes

Opponent Recovery Passes focuses on the first passes played by the opponent after winning the ball back. This tab follows a different visual model from the two tabs above.

1. Pass locations

The left visualization displays pitch zones showing the total number of recovery passes per zone. Select a zone to display the related passes.

2. Passes from zone

The middle visualization displays the pass directions originating from the selected zone.

3. Pass destinations

The right visualization shows:

  • Orange zone: The selected zone.

  • Blue zones: Zones that exchange recovery passes with the selected zone. A darker blue means more recovery passes are exchanged.

  • Orange square (inside a blue zone): The number of recovery passes from the selected (orange) zone to that blue zone.

  • Blue square (inside a blue zone): The number of recovery passes from that blue zone to the selected (orange) zone.

The table view shows the selected recovery passes from the middle visualization. Selecting an event on the pitch or a row in the table opens the corresponding video clip. Clips can also be added directly to a playlist for further analysis.

Adding events to a playlist

Individual events or sequences can be selected directly from the table using the checkboxes. Multiple rows can be selected at once for bulk actions. Or add a clip to a playlist straight from the clip pop-up.

Once selected, the clips can be added to an existing playlist or folder. For a full overview of how to create and manage playlists, refer to Playlists & Folders.
