Match Insights: Attacking

Clickable match insights of the attacking game-phase explained

The Attacking page provides a structured overview of a team's attacking phase, from the start of an attack to the final shot. Each page focuses on a specific stage of the attacking process, making it easy to identify patterns, review individual moments, and analyze the corresponding video clips.

Using the analysis

Each tab follows the same analysis workflow. Selecting a zone or event automatically updates the related visualizations and synchronizes the table view. Every event and sequence can be opened directly in the video player from either the visualization or the table. Clips can also be added directly to a playlist.

Navigating the section

Three tabs are available at the top of the screen:

  • Build-up Passes

  • Own Half Ball Starts

  • Opponent Half Ball Starts

  • Hot & Assist Zone Passing

  • Box entry

  • Shots

Select a tab to switch between views. Each tab follows the same three-panel pitch layout.

Build-up Passes

The Build-up Passes page analyzes passes and dribbles that originate during the build-up phase. The page consists of three visualizations.

  • Build-up zones
    ​
    The left visualization displays the zones where Build-up Passes originate. Select a zone to display the related Build-up Passes and dribbles.

  • Build-up Passes
    ​
    The middle visualization displays all Build-up Passes that started in the selected zone. Selecting a pass opens the corresponding video clip.

  • Build-up dribbles
    ​
    The right visualization displays all dribbles that started in the selected Build-up zone. Selecting a pass opens the corresponding video clip.

Own Half Ball Starts

The Own Half Ball Starts page analyzes attacking sequences that begin from a dead-ball situation in the team's own half.

The page consists of three linked visualizations.

  1. Ball Start locations
    ​
    The left visualization displays where Ball Starts begin. Select a zone to display all sequences that started from that location.The result can be further refined by selecting:

    1. Green: Positive

    2. Yellow: Neutral

    3. Red: Negative

  2. Sequence zones
    ​
    The middle visualization displays every zone the selected sequence passed through. Only zones containing an event, such as a pass or dribble, are included.

  3. Sequence flow
    ​
    The right visualization displays the complete path of the selected sequence from start to finish.

Opponent Half Ball Starts

The Opponent Half Ball Starts page follows the same workflow as Own Half Ball Starts, but focuses on attacks that begin in the opponent's half. Take the same steps as the Own half Ball Starts above as the visualizations work similarly.

Hot & Assist Zone Passing

The Hot & Assist Zone Passing page analyzes passing patterns within the predefined Hot Zones and Assist Zones. The page consists of three linked visualizations.

  1. Hot Zones & assist zone
    ​
    The left visualization displays passes into and out of the predefined Hot & assist Zones. Selecting a zone filters the middle field visualization.

  2. Passing overview
    The middle visualization displays the passes that match the selected zone. This visualization can be filtered by selecting a zone in either the left or the right fields.

  3. Assist Zones
    ​
    The right visualization displays:

    1. Assists

    2. Pre-assists

    3. Key Passes

    4. Pre-key Passes

Box Entry

The Box Entry page analyzes how the penalty area is reached through different attacking actions.The left panel displays three fixed categories, each with its own pitch visualization:

  1. Crosses
    ​
    The top visualization displays the zones where crosses originate. divided into Early crosses, Late crosses and Cutback crosses, each shown in a distinct color.

  2. Dribbles
    ​
    The second view displays the amount of dribbles per zone that resulted in a box entry.

  3. Box Receptions
    ​
    The bottom view displays receptions inside the penalty area.

Selecting a zone or event within any of these categories updates the middle panel with the corresponding event locations on the pitch and populates the table on the right with individual events including Time, Events, Player and Position.

Shots

The Shots page provides an overview of all shots and goals of the selected team during the selected match.

  1. Shot zones
    ​
    The upper visualization displays where shots and goals were taken. Select a zone to display only the shots from that area.

  2. Shot locations
    ​
    The visualization below displays the locations of the selected shots.The table view automatically updates with the corresponding events.

  3. Match statistics
    The bottom of the page displays key shooting statistics, including:

    1. Shots on Target

    2. Goals

Selecting an event on the pitch or a row in the table (right-hand side) opens the corresponding video clip.

Adding events to a playlist

Individual events or sequences can be selected directly from the table using the checkboxes. Multiple rows can be selected at once for bulk actions. Or add a clip to a playlist straight from the clip pop-up.

Once selected, the clips can be added to an existing playlist or folder. For a full overview of how to create and manage playlists, refer to Playlists & Folders.
