Where can you find the SciSports Events XML?
The SciSports Events XML contains a timeline that can be imported in any video analysis tool that supports SportsCode (HUDL, MyVA, NAC Sports, etc). You can find the feature within the Performance Center under Data center > data sets. Search for the file type CustomXml, and you will find the SciSports Events XML.
Which events are part of the SciSports Events XML?
The SciSports Events XML provides a set of on-ball events on both team and player level. If tracking data is available, we add a subset of advanced events. For instance, passes between the lines, passes behind the last line or switch passes. An entire overview of all supported events on both team and player level using the button below.
How is the SciSports Events XML structured?
We provide a single row per team, and a single row per player in the exported timeline. In addition, we provide a row with SciSports timestamps, indicating the start and end of the halfs to use in setting offsets. Any row contains all events for that team / player, and event-types can be differentiated using the tags. Every event-type has its own tags, so that the user can filter for specific event types.
How can you download the SciSports Events XML?
You can download the XML timeline using one of the three methods below:
1: Datasets overview page
For one or more matches, you can use the download option from the datasets overview page. First, select the game(s) you are interested in. Secondly, press on the download button on the top right. Finally, select the files you want to download and press download.
2: Datasets details page
For one specific match, you can use the download option from the datasets details page. First, search and select the game you are interested in. Secondly, click on the game to navigate to the details page. Finally, select the files you want to download using the checkboxes and press the download button on the top right.
3: SciSports Performance Center API
If you want to automate your process of downloading files from the Performance Center, you can use our API. More information about the API can be found on our developers page. Please reach out to support@scisports.com if you would like to know more about this.
When is the SciSports Events XML available?
The SciSports Events XML is generated automatically for each match in the current leagues with access to the Performance Center and with SciSports positions available. We offer the option to receive email notifications once a match or specific file is available in the Performance Center. You can set up and personalize the notification settings on your profile page. How to import the SciSports Events XML into your video tool?
A step-by-step guide on how to import the SciSports Events XML in your own video tool, can be found here.
What is the added value of the SciSports Events XML if tracking data is available?
The SciSports Events XML contains so-called synchronized events in case tracking data is available. This means that we combine the power of both event and tracking data. This allows you to analyze events in combination with tracking data, with increased reliability of event attributes. More information about the combination of event- and tracking data can be in this article.
What are the benefits of combining event and tracking data?
While event data has been a relatively familiar source of information for some time now, the development of tracking data for performance analysis allows a number of advantages for analysis departments. A selection of the benefits we see:
Thanks to the synchronization, actions have a more accurate timestamp.
The position on the field is now the actual position of the action and not dependent on (error-prone) notational analysis.
Distances are more accurate for players and the ball (e.g. pass distance).
Corrects for erroneous events (e.g. wrong player).
More relevant attributes/information are available for each action.
