How to use Video Scouting?
Getting started with Video Scouting is simple, but the tool offers the depth to support even the most advanced analytical workflows. In this section, we walk you through the key features, filters, and functionalities that bring your scouting process to life.
By clicking on the Video tab on the player profile page, you are taken directly to the video highlights of the selected player.
1. Using Filters
Clicking the Filters button opens a slider menu (on the right) where you can apply specific filters such as matches, position groups, and event types. This allows you to narrow down the video output to exactly the moments and actions you want to analyze.
Below is a breakdown of the filters you can select.
Leagues: select one or multiple leagues (of the player);
Seasons: select one or multiple seasons (of the player);
Teams: select one or multiple teams (of the player);
Matches: select one or multiple matches (of the player), with ready-to-use presets designed to enhance your user experience.
Position Groups: select one or multiple position groups (of the player);
Events: select one or multiple player actions.
Each event type follows a standardized definition to ensure consistency across analyses. Please refer to the SciSports Event Types glossary for a complete overview of all available event types and their definitions.
2. Using Auto-Play
By enabling the Auto-Play button, video clips will automatically play one after another (from page to page) in a continuous loop. This feature is ideal for quickly reviewing a sequence of actions without needing to manually click through each clip.
3. Switching between pages
Use the arrow buttons to navigate between different pages of video clips. This allows you to browse through all available actions that match your selected filters.
4. Events overlap
Some events may overlap because a single moment can satisfy multiple event definitions. For example, one pass can simultaneously be classified as a successful pass and a long pass. This overlap provides a more detailed understanding of specific player actions without referring to multiple separate moments.
5. Sharing clips with colleagues
You can easily share selected video clips with your colleagues directly from the platform. This facilitates collaboration and streamlines communication within your team.
6. Downloading clips
You can download individual video clips as single .mp4 files for offline viewing or further analysis.
7. Using keyboard shortcuts
Use the spacebar to pause and play the video. Navigate through the footage in 2-second increments using the left and right arrow keys for precise control.
