Using SciSports Events, we support a SportsCode XML Export to conduct video analysis. Our XML timeline can be imported into any analysis tool that supports SportsCode XML format (Sportscode HUDL, MyVA, NAC Sports etc).

The following updates are made:

  1. The custom XML has a new structure.

  2. For every team event, a row is created in the XML.

    1. Such an event contains a player 'tag' corresponding to that event

  3. For every player tag, a Player Event is created.

    1. Such an event contains an event 'tag' corresponding to that event.

  4. All the events that were in XML 1.0 are also in XML 2.0.

  5. Sorting is optimised and is now done on a per-team basis.

  6. Possession types are now split into play types (e.g., set-piece or open-play).

We redefined or added some of our events slightly:

  • Recoveries are now also supported in the KKD.

  • Shots are divided into several categories, and the Shot category does not contain penalties any more (a separate Shot: Penalty is added)

  • Shot: Big Chance doesn't contain goals; these can be found under Shot: Goal

  • Switch Passes definition is improved and now only contains passes from flank to opposite halfspace, halfspace to the opposite flank, or flank to flank, whose ends in the opponent's half.

  • GoalKeeper pick-up is now also supported in the KKD.

  • Decreased event duration of all pass-related events to 1 second pre-start time and 1 second post-end time of the event to avoid overlapping events.

  • Better coverage of unsuccessful crosses. Reduced the amount of non-cross passes.

  • Possession loss now only includes events from teams that do not stay in possession (e.g. if a tackle is made but unsuccessful, thus the team stays in possession, this is not considered a possession loss).

New events:

  • Added pass between the lines and pass behind the defensive line.

  • Off Ball events: Off Ball: Between Lines Run

  • Off Ball events: Off Ball: Deep Run

More info on where to find it and how to use it can be found in our Knowledge base articles here or here.

We also created some detailed explanations of the definitions of events we use. This can be found here.
