Build up play is the phase of play when a team has possession of the ball and tries to score while the opponent is in an organised defence. An attack is often being 'build up' starting from a pass of the goalkeeper or a defender. Each build up contains a certain passing sequence with the obvious aim to create an opportunity to score.

On the Build Up Play page, you can directly analyse each single goal kick, and if they lead to a successful or an unsuccessful build up.

A build up sequence is often started by a goal kick, however, a build up can also start at a defender.
