Where can you find Build-Up Play?

You can find the feature within the Performance Center under Match center > Tactical reports.

How to use Build-Up Play?

On the Build-Up Play page within the Performance Center, you can directly analyse each single build-up. This is the phase of play when a team has possession of the ball and tries to score while the opponent is in an organised defence. Each build-up contains a certain passing sequence with the obvious aim to create an opportunity to score.ย

Before you can start your analysis, select the team and match(es) you are interested in. Finally, you can select when (15 minute intervals) and where on the pitch using the filters on the top of your screen.

How to read the visualisation?

The visualisation shows each build-up sequence. Often started by a goal kick. Clicking on each build-up allows you to see the whole sequence. The lines indicate:

  • Solid grey line: pass from one player to another.

  • Dotted grey line: running with the ball.

Successful or unsuccessful build-up?

  • Green dot: represents a build-up that reached the opponents half.

  • Red dot: represents a ball loss during build-up before reaching the opponents half.
