Match Report – Tactical - Passing Performance

Expected Goals

Expected goals is defined as predicted goals over a match, calculated by using an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model based on offensive tactical features (e.g. Created Opportunities) computed from tracking data.

Pass angle definition  

 Average Pass Stats

  • Number of passes
  • Total number of passes.
  • Pass length (m)
  • Distance between begin and end of the pass.
  • Pass angle (deg °)
  • Angle of the direction of the pass.
  • Pass velocity (m/s)
  • Mean velocity of the ball during the pass.

Pass Performance 

Pass Quality (%)
For every pass, the probability (pass quality) that the pass will be successful is computed using an AI model based on features derived from tracking data

Pass Accuracy (%)
For every pass the percentage of passes that was successful (pass was received by teammate). 

Scoring Opportunities

Conversion Rate
The rate of the opportunities that are actually converted in to scoring.

Potential Opportunities Created
For every individual ball possession, a potential for the creation of a scoring opportunity is computed based on position in relation to the goal and defensive pressure.

Outplaying Opponents 

Off-Ball Superiority
Number of seconds your team has a numerical superiority in the final third. 

Outplayed Defenders
No. of outplayed defenders (last six players by longitudinal position) similar to ‘Impect’.

Offensive Transition Mobility 

Transition mobility
Change in team spread in the first 5 seconds after winning the ball. A negative value would mean that the team is trying to control space in transition. A positive value would mean that the team is spacing the field in transition. 

Pass Disruptiveness

Average Disruptiveness per pass
Per pass the Defensive Disruptiveness is computed based on a model that measures the impact of a pass on the opposing defensive organization. 

Total Disruptiveness
The Defensive Disruptiveness by the whole team over the match. 

League average
The average over all teams within the league, over one or more play rounds.

Player Pass Performance 

Pass Accuracy (%)
For every pass the percentage of passes that was successful (pass was received by teammate). 

Average Pass Quality (%)
For every pass, the probability (pass quality) that the pass will be successful is computed using an AI model based on features derived from tracking data

Risk vs. Reward Passers

Average Pass Disruptiveness
Mean and total pass disruptiveness are computed using our Def-D model (Goes et al. 2018) that measures the impact of a pass on the defensive organization.

Average Pass Difficulty
For Pass Difficulty the AI model for Pass Quality is used to compute the difficulty score for each successful pass.

Risk vs. Reward Receivers

Receiving Accuracy (%)
Percentage of passes intended for you that arrived successfully.

Most Dangerous Passers

For every individual ball possession, a potential for the creation of a scoring opportunity is computed based on position in relation to the goal and defensive pressure. 

Most Dangerous Receivers

Potential scoring opportunities received
For every individual ball possession, a potential for the receiving of a scoring opportunity is computed based on position in relation to the goal and defensive pressure.
