API keys are the credentials your application uses to authenticate requests to the SciSports API. Each key is tied to an approved app and inherits its scopes, giving you precise control over what data your integration can access.
Before you start
Make sure your API app has been approved by SciSports. API keys cannot be created for apps with a Pending or Rejected status.
Creating an API key
Go to the Developers Portal (https://developers.scisports.app/)
Navigate to API access and API keys
Click ‘Create key’
Select the app you want to issue the key for
Enter a name for the key
Set an expiry date
Accept the API key agreement
Click ‘Create’
The key is shown once immediately after creation. Please copy and store it securely. It cannot be retrieved afterwards.
Managing your keys
All keys across your apps are listed in the API keys overview, showing the app name, scopes, creation date, expiry date, last used and status.
To revoke a key, select it from the list and click Revoke. Revoking a key is permanent. It can no longer be used to authenticate requests. A new key can be created at any time.
Good to know
A key is shown only once at creation. If lost, revoke it and create a new one.
Keys expire based on the expiry date set at creation.
The technical contact receives an email notification when a key is created or revoked.
