Half spaces

The term half-space refers to a specific zone on the football pitch. When the pitch is divided into five vertical lanes, each lane is assigned a name: the wide lanes, or wide areas, are typically defined as the space between the touchline and the outer edge of the penalty area. The central lane runs through the middle of the pitch and is usually defined by the width of the center circle or six-yard box.

The half-spaces are the two vertical lanes located between the wide areas and the central lane. Teams often aim to receive the ball in these half-spaces, particularly in the final third of the pitch near the edge of the penalty area, where they can create goal-scoring opportunities.

1. Access settings

  • Navigate to the menu and select the General option on the left side.

2. Turn on Half-Spaces

  • Locate the switch next to the Generate Video button.

  • The switch will be red (off) by default. Click it to turn it on, which will change its color to green.

3. Customize Appearance (Optional)

  • Adjust line settings: Below the main switch, you’ll find a box to change the line color and a slider to modify its width.

  • Add area coloring: Use the box below to select a color for shading the half-spaces. Ensure you activate this feature by turning on its corresponding switch; otherwise, no changes will appear.

Once activated and customized, you will see half-spaces clearly marked in the 2D view for better analysis!
